A few thoughts on Sustainability and Tropical Cyclone Winston

Wow, it's been a while since we've posted anything, and I decide to fix that during a Cat 5 Tropical Cyclone.  For those of you interested, the coolest site for watching progress is over here at: https://www.windyty.com/?-16.952,-179.769,6.

You can also get official updates here at Fiji Met: http://www.met.gov.fj/current_warnings.php.

So grocery shopping is done, shutters are up, and the boats are pulled.  We'll let you know how things go.  Naturally, I'm here in the US, so we'll ask Jon, Muriel, and maybe Heather (our world famous guest) who is currently staying at the resort, for some cool pictures.

I've also promised the folks over at Blue Certified a post describing why we have decided to certify the sustainability of our resort through their organization.  That should post in the next day or so.

Dinner and the Olo

Well, things are going pretty well here at the Taveuni Dive Resort.  First, we'd like to show you some nice pictures Karen took of the restaurant being prepared for dinner.  Can you imagine yourself sharing a meal in this setting?

I hear it from the guests that dinner was quite tasty.

How do You Design a Dive Resort?

How do You Design a Dive Resort?

Taveuni Dive Resort has been in the works for several years, starting as a set of rough sketches on graph paper. How did Carl and Muriel go from those sketches to a construction-ready project that will be opening this fall? They started with their experiences on Taveuni, observing what their guests wanted in their diving experience, and developing a set of principles to guide the design...

Calling All Dive Groups!

Folks,  we have some great news!  For 12 years Carl and Muriel have run Taveuni Dive, the most reliable and experienced dive operator on Taveuni. To better accommodate the dive groups wanting to visit, we've decided to open our own dive resort.  The Taveuni Dive Resort will have eight very special bures, so it can easily accommodate the typical dive group of 16 people.  The resort will be Taveuni's first sustainable resort.

We're starting construction in March 2014, so we will be open in the fall of 2014.  Thanks for all of your support, and keep visiting for additional news.

Check out a little about our resort here.  We've also launched our new Facebook page.
